The Nyala is a charcoal colored, dryland animal with 12 or more vertical white stripes (male may have fewer and less- conspicuous stripes). It also has a heavy fringe of dark har down the foreneck and underparts, with a bushy tail. Both sexes have a white chevron between the eyes. Horns (male only) have one to one and one half turns, and grow 24-33 inches in length.
